WE ARE NOW IN OUR WINTER RECESS - EVENTS START AGAIN ON MARCH 5TH WITH A VISIT FROM TV GARDENER AND AUTHOR MATT BIGGS. DETAILS TO FOLLOW.
6th November 2025 - Thanks to all who joined in for the Annual General Meeting. It was a good review of our successful activities and thriving club. All committee members were relected to their posts and we are delighted be joined by new committee members Julia Eyles and Adrian Norris. Thanks to everyone who is and has been involved in all aspects of the running of our club. The Seligman Trophy and Banksian medal are awarded each year to the person who has won the most points across our spring and autumn shows, with winners in the previous two years excluded. This year the award went to Adrian Norris - Congratulations Adrian!
Before the AGM we heard a fascinating talk on Victorian gardeners and the Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Institution (now called Perennial) which was often the only institution preventing gardeners, nurserymen and florists from going into the workhouse. To find out more, click here.
Trip to Dorset 6-8th June 2026
Please click here to view the itinerary for next summer's trip to the Southwest, which will include some truly stunning gardens. All places on the trip were taken when we opened booking at our October meeting, but we will be running a waiting list, and experience has shown that places do become available.
Centenary
Our Society celebrated its Centenary in style on 5th June 2025 with President Liz and Vice President Mary cutting a cake and with the hall packed to hear a presentation on our long and interesting history. You can read about the event and see photos of everyone enjoying themselves here. The fascinating Centenary Slideshow of images prepared by Derek Pitts has now been loaded to this website and can be found by clicking here.
