The Ballinger Hall Horticultural Society has been operating since the 1920s and has a long history of promoting and sharing horticultural knowledge in Ballinger, Lee Common, South Heath, Great Missenden and the surrounding area.
We meet monthly during the growing season to share our interest in plants and gardens. Meetings take place at 8pm in Ballinger War Memorial Hall, the first Thursday of the month in March, April, May, June, July, September, October, and November.
We welcome members to each meeting with a glass of wine and we invite many interesting speakers; usually experts in plants, gardens, gardening or garden design. We have one headline speaker a year, often a famous name in garden media, for which an additional charge is usually made.
We hold two shows a year, in Spring and Autumn, where members compete in a friendly environment for cups and rosettes owned by the club since the 1920s.
A highlight of the year is the members’ trip. Comprising coach travel and good value overnight accommodation, the annual tour takes in famous gardens and garden shows and is a perennial favourite amongst our members.
The Society is run by a volunteer committee and operates entirely on member subscriptions and additional fundraising.
Our President is Liz Bristow and our Vice-President Mary Morgan, both longstanding members and supporters of the Society.
